About the Trainer

Katie Locks began her training career more than ten years ago while working for a pet products company.  She began her career working with the marketing department to prepare canine models for photo shoots and videos.  After apprenticing with an experienced trainer and owner of a canine care facility, Katie made the leap into her own venture.  Katie's unique approach includes a system that she has developed through years of research and personal experience. Katie has a gift for connecting with animals and they respond to her almost immediately. She will teach you what you need to know to do the same for your animal. Katie will also make sure you have a chance to apply what you are learning throughout the process.

Katie's passion is shelter and rescue dogs, and really emphasizes how a little patience can go a long way.

Katie is currently the lead trainer at two Virginia correctional facilities thru Pixie's PenPals and works with the offenders teaching them dog training skills, as well as responsibility, patience, tolerance and life-long problem solving skills. This unique rehabilitation program is a win-win-win for offenders, dogs and trainer.

Katie has recently been asked to be a mentor trainer with Animal Behavior College and is currently working with her first two students !

Katie continues to foster and rehabilitate shelter dogs in her home.  In her spare time, she loves spending time with her husband, daughter and eight dogs.

Katie has volunteered and contributed to several programs for rescue and shelter dogs, and is currently participating in a prison-based training and rehabilitation program. The following are web addresses to these organizations:
